Kirkman: * Pro-Bio Chewable 90ct
Description
Kirkman is pleased to announce the formulation of a chewable wafer version of our most popular probiotic, Pro-Bio Gold. This product is a pleasant tasting chewable with the same six certified strains of organisms as present in our signature Pro-Bio Gold formulation.
Normally, chewable probiotic formulations are weak, low dosage products due to the fragility of the organisms, but Kirkman has developed an optimal formulation which is produced under special cold, dehumidified conditions, so that the product maintains full potency when compressed into a tablet.
Kirkman Laboratories Pro-Bio Chewable formulation offers a comprehensive replacement of six well recognized, researched and documented probiotic strains to support gastrointestinal health. This probiotic supplement is a combination of the most important "resident" as well as "transient" microorganisms, which contribute to maintaining and promoting a healthy GI tract.
There are numerous factors that contribute to the friendly bacteria (like Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium and Thermophilus) being destroyed or depleted, which includes:
Environmental toxins/chemicals
Excessive stressful conditions
Improper diet or nutrient deficiencies
Food allergies/sensitivities
Overgrowth of yeasts, bacteria, viruses, etc.
Abnormal permeability of the intestine
Exposure to numerous medications
Pro-Bio Chewable wafers utilize six probiotic strains, which have undergone DNA fingerprinting in supporting their identity and have exhibited long-term stability. Over 65 scientific studies and published articles have been written in support of the strains with documented ability of these strains to:
Possess a high tolerance to survive stomach acids and bile salts.
Support the body's natural defenses and the intestinal tract's immunological barrier.
Help alleviate occasional diarrhea & constipation.
Addresses lactose intolerance issues.
Documented ability to adhere and colonize the GI mucosal membrane.
Assist with regulating intestinal mobility and normal bowel function.
May help create an inhibitory effect on free radical activity in the colon.
**Ingredients**
LACTOBACILLUS RHAMNOSUS
One of the crucial functions of L. rhamnosus is its role as a primary "resident" in the 28 feet of the small intestine. This important lactobacilli recently gained a great deal of attention for its ability to adhere to the intestinal mucosa and colonize the gastrointestinal tract, thus exerting important health-promoting functions.
LACTOBACILLUS ACIDOPHILUS (LA-5)
L. acidophilus is probably the most recognized as well as prominent strain that sets up residence (implants itself) in the mucous membrane of the mouth, the small intestine as well as in the lining of the genitourinary tract. The L. acidophilus organism aids in the digestion and absorption of nutrients, helps with the maintenance of regularity and helps address lactose intolerance caused by the deficiency of the enzyme lactase. Additionally L. acidophilus has been shown to have a high tolerance for acids and bile salts, which makes it a viable and hearty microorganism.
BIFIDOBACTERIUM BIFIDUM / LACTIS (BB-12)
Bifidobacterium bifidum, recently identified as B. lactis, is the most prominent microorganism strain that sets up residence and implants itself in the lining of the large intestine, the last part of the small intestine as well as in the vaginal tract. This organism is known for producing acetic and lactic acids, which lower the pH of its surroundings. Its implantation and subsequent acidity increase are a positive step in maintaining healthy flora.
LACTOBACILLUS CASEI
L. casei shares some of the same immune-modulating effects seen with other lactobacilli family members. It is commonly found in the mouth and membrane of the small intestine. The CRL-431 strain is documented to secrete "peptidoglycan" which stimulates phagocytes (phagocytosis) by macrophages. The cell wall of this strain of L. casei has been demonstrated to contain "teichonic acid", which plays a role in adherence of microorganisms to epithelial tissue.
LACTOBACILLUS PLANTARUM
A very viable, well adhering strain of lactic acid organisms which is a common resident in the human intestinal tract. L. plantarum has shown good results in helping to crowd out the troublesome bacteria, Clostridium difficile.
STREPTOCOCCUS THERMOPHILUS
S. thermophilus is considered a transient bacterium in the human intestine where, although it does not set up residence, it exerts some positive influences on gastrointestinal health. One important function is the ability of these bacteria to support milk digestion through production of the enzyme lactase. Together with Lactobacillus bulgaricus, S. thermophilus produces a culture that is used in making yogurt. This strain produces lactic acid, which encourages a good environment for the resident bacteria (Acidophilus and Bifidobacterium).
